Okay, if you dug the mid-to-late-90's Beach Boys-obsessed years of His Name Is Alive, then you will love Saturday Looks Good to Me. SLGTM is the brainchild of fellow Michigan resident Fred Thomas, who served briefly as a bassist for HNIA. He wrote and arranged all the 60's-inspired-songs on this CD, and enlisted a crazy cast of twenty-seven people to come in and help him out, including the kids of Ida and Ted Leo. Some of the songs bounce along spiritedly (like "Underwater Heartbeat"), while others are slow and quiet (like the album's title track). And with HNIA's Warn Defever on the mixing board with Fred, the songs have that same wacky editing as HNIA songs do where songs blend into the next one, or just end abruptly. I love that! This is definitely my summer soundtrack! (janice.05.03)
