The concept here, perhaps inspired by the "Voices of Old People" track on Simon & Garfunkel's "Bookends" album, was to take recorded interviews with various elderly, rural Southerners and soundtrack them with experimental ambient folk music. The end result is a bit like a documentary with no narration or picture, and the music is often quite spooky, sometimes reminiscent of Mům in effect if not in genre. Not the sort of thing we usually cover here, but interesting, and we do love a good documentary. This CD-R release is way out of print (only 50 were pressed, or burned rather), but if you're intrigued, be the first person to write and ask us nicely and we'll send you our promo copy. (mike.01.05)
