20 minute loop
self-titled • fortune records • 2000

You know how when you go to a show, sometimes the sound dude will play some insufferable crud music over the PA between bands that makes the wait just seem interminable? This is one of those CDs. 20 Minute Loop features dual vocals reminiscent of X, except the female singer sounds more like Alanis than Exene, and there is the occasional inexplicable scat break. Musically this is thoroughly generic, mediocre "alternative rock" with more than a few cringe-inducing moments, and the songs just drag on and on. The lyrics are the worst offenders here, being horridly pretentious and laboriously "edgy". 20 minutes with this CD feels like a lifetime. (mike.06.02)
