So, here's all the pumpkins that were carved last night.
This one is Mike's. He just freehanded a scary face, but now that I think of it, it totally looks like Oogie Boogie from "Nightmare Before Christmas" which just happened to be the movie we were "watching" last night. (It was on in the background, but we were in the dining room, just kinda listening.)
Strong Bad was carved by Craig & Akira --- our friends have talked about Homestar Runner to us before, but Mike and I never really knew what they were talking about. Last night, we finally watched it online! OMG! On the drive home, Mike and I kept doubling-over with giggles calling out "Bigg Nife!" and "Limo Zeen!" And when we finally got home, I ran to the computer so we could watch the Trogdor one again! And when I woke up this morning I couldn't stop singing "I will never ever ever ever ever ever write a song about Sibbie". So now, like our friends, we are totally into this Homestar Runner thing. The lovely Russian Nesting Doll was by Arianne. Like she said last night, if she was really crazy, she would've carved a smaller pumpkin, and a smaller pumpkin, and then it would've been just like those real Russian nesting dolls. But she is not that crazy. She was, however, crazy enough to choose the big ol 30 pound (!!!) pumpkin to carve and she was forever scooping out its insides! :)
The best pumpkin, in my oh-so-humble opinion, was carved by Shoshanna --- it's TOTORO! :) Isn't it the cutest? Hopefully you can see in the pic his cute ears, and she did a great job of shaving his belly. It's adorable!!! :)
And here's mine, a simple kitty face, not too unlike our adorable Ethel. Don't be too impressed: I bought a kit and used the pattern. Yawn. ;)
And then the cutest thing! We brought our pumpkins home and left them in the hallway. And when we woke up this morning, our neighbors had put out pumpkins of their own too! : ) : ) : ) How sweet and cute is that?! Totally charming!
